Membrane Performance Testing
bulletThree high pressure plate-and-frame RO membrane systems with data acquisition system and online monitoring of pH, permeate flux, conductivity, calcium potential and temperature.
bulletEx-situ high pressure RO system with on-line membrane surface optical imaging capability
bulletSpiral-wound RO system computerized data acquisition and control, integrated with a filtration system for pre-treatment and a heat exchanger for temperature. The system is capable of on-line monitoring of temperature, pH, turbidity and calcium.

Membrane Testing

bulletOptical microscope (BX51W, Olympus) with light and fluorescent detection at 10X, 20X, and 40X for direct observation of surface fouling phenomena
Analytical Equipment
bulletDigilab FTS40 FTIR spectrometer with a TGA interface. System is used for quantification and identification of chemical functionality of native and modified membranes and foulants.
bulletMultimode III Atomic Force Microscope with liquid cell capabilities (Veeco Instruments).
bulletHigh resolution scanning electron microscope (Hitachi S4700 Field Emission SEM, Japan), along with surface sputtering system for specimen preparation and EDX surface elemental analysis Scanning electron microscope (SEM) for imaging surface morphology
bulletMaxTek Quartz Crystal Microbalance system with a computerized data acquisition system. System is interfaced with a potentiostat and a frequency counter.

bulletThree HPLC systems (ISCO HPLC, Model 2350; Varian 5000; and Waters Model 590) with gradient capability, automatic injectors, fraction collectors, data acquisition system and MW determination software.
